-Selenium and a-tocopherol acetate act on a complementary form, by protecting cells against the accumulation of peroxides, which cause cell degeneration and destruction.
-a-tocopherol acetate is a fat-soluble vitamin that has antioxidant activity.
-It prevents the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids in the membranes, thus avoiding the formation of free radicals and peroxides.
-Selenium is a trace element that forms part of the peroxidase glutation enzyme, responsible for peroxide reduction.
-Vitamin E, after being absorbed, passes to the circulatory system, binding to B-lipoproteins. It diffuses throughout all the tissues, accumulating in the adipose tissue.
-It is metabolised in the liver and excreted basically in the bile, and in a less extent, in the urine and milk.
