In the horse, Flunixvet Injection is indicated for alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with musculoskeletal disorders , alleviation of visceral pain associated with colic.In cattle is indicated for control of acute inflammation associated with respiratory disease. it may also be used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of acute mastitis.
Composition
-Flunixvet contains
Active ingredient:
Flunixin Meglumine 50 mg per ml
Other ingredients:
Phenol, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Edetate, Sodium Formaldehyde Sulfoxylate, Water for injection.

Dosage, routes and method of administration
– Administered by slow intravenous injection.
Horses:
-Equine colic: Inject 1 ml per 45 kg bodyweight by intravenous injection, repeat once or twice if colic recurs.
-Musculoskeletal disorders: Inject 1 ml per 45 kg bodyweight by intravenous injection once daily for up to 5 days.
Cattle:
-Inject 2 ml per 45 kg bodyweight by intravenous injection, repeat as necessary at 24-hour intervals up to 5 consecutive days.
Withdrawal period
Meat: 7 days.
Special warnings
-Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory drugs are not permitted under the rules of racing and under the rules covering other competitive events.
-The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons has advised the Veterinary Profession regarding the use of anti-inflammatory drugs in competing horses.
-It states that “if a veterinarian recommends the discontinuation of any such drug not less than eight days before racing, he should feel sure that he has catered for all but the most exceptional case”.
-Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment.
-Avoid intra-arterial injection.
-Do not use in animals less than 6 weeks of age or in aged animals.
