Furex contain furosemide is a potent diuretic for parenteral administration to cattle, horses, cats and dogs , indicated in the treatment of oedema associated with cardiac insufficiency, renal dysfunction, trauma and parasitic disease.
Composition
Furex Solution For Injection is a light yellow coloured, clear, particule-free, sterile solution containing 20 mg furosemide and 7.5 mg benzyl alcohol as preservative in each ml.
Indication
Furex (furosemide )Solution for injection is used in the treatment of acute pulmonary and cerebral edema and to accelerate diuresis in poisonings, to remove fluids that arise from hepatic insufficiency, nephrosis or any disorder that cause edema from tissues, body cavities, joints, tendons and surfaces. It is used as supportive to main treatment in any stressed conditions (high effort, pregnancy, transport); infectious diseases and in time of recovery; it is used as supportive in poisonings, mycotoxicosis, hypocalcemia, anemia, in adaptation, feeding and development problems.
Dosage and treatment period is adjusted according to severity of disease and
clinical course and response to treatment. In case of edema, treatment can be continued with lower dosages to prevent edema formation.
Administration route and dosage
Unless otherwise recommended by the veterinarian, Furex is administered only via slow intravenous route (i.v) in cattle and horse, via slow intravenous (i.v) and intramuscular (i.m) route in cat and dog.
A dosage of 4 ml via intravenous (i.v) route is recommended for urine sampling (in 5-10 minutes).
The dosage can be repeated with 6-8 hour intervals for 3-4 times daily in horses, 12-14 hours intervals for 1-2 times daily in cattle, 6-8 hours intervals for 3-4 times daily in cats and dogs.
If necessary, treatment can be continued for 1-2 days.
