Nova-Cefti is a ceftiofur veterinary antibiotic used for treating livestock bacterial diseases such as foot rot in sheep, cattle pneumonia treatment and other respiratory conditions. All details are mentioned below..
FORMULATION:
Each 100 mL of Nova-Cefti Sterile Suspension for Injection contains:
Active: Ceftiofur Hydrochloride 5,000 mg
Inactive Substances: Silicon Dioxide, Butylated
Hydroxytoluene , Polysorbate 80 and Propylene Glycol Dicaprylate.
INDICATIONS:
Nova-Cefti use for the treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni, for acute interdigital necrobacillosis (panaritium, foot rot) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus , and treatment of the bacterial component of acute postpartum metritis associated with Escherichia coli, Arcanobacterium pyogenes and Fusobacterium necrophorum restricted to cases where treatment with another antimicrobial has failed.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not administer to an animal previously found to be hypersensitive to ceftiofur and other ß-lactam antibiotics.
Do not inject intravenously.
Do not use it in poultry (including eggs) due to risk of spread of antimicrobial resistance to humans.
WITHDRAWAL TIME:
Meat: 8 days.
Milk: Zero day.
STORAGE:
Do not store above 30°C.
Protect from light.
DOSAGE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION:
By subcutaneous injection.
Treatment of respiratory disease: 1 mL Nova-Cefti per 25-50 kg body weight once a day, for 3 to 5 days.
Treatment of acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 mL per 25-50 kg body weight once a day, for 3 days.
For Acute post-partum metritis: 1 mL per 25-50 kg body weight once a day, for 5 consecutive days.
RECOMMENDATION:
Shake well before use.
Multiple injections must be given at different sites.
In case of acute post-partum metritis, additional supportive therapy might be required in some cases.
To ensure a correct dosage, body weight should be determined.
