.Oxykel 20 L.A broad spectrum antibiotic contains Oxytetracycline for cattle,sheep & camel for respiratory tract infections, treatment of footrot and otitis media.

FORMULA

Oxykel 20 L.A. contains
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride eq. 200 mg
Excipients up to 1 ml.

ACTION

Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, and also against rickettsiae, mycoplasmas, chlamidiae and some protozoa.

Thanks to its particular composition, provides therapeutically active blood levels for 3 to 4 days when given at the recommended dose.

INDICATIONS

Oxykel 20 L.A. is indicated for infections caused by tetracycline sensitive germs, such as:
Cattle, camels: respiratory tract infections, treatment of footrot and otitis media.
Sheep, goats: respiratory tract infections, enzootic abortion (chlamidiosis).

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

By deep I.M. injection: 1 ml/10 kg b.w.
If necessary, repeat with a 3-days interval.
By slow I.V. injection, when high initial blood levels are desired.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD

Meat: 28 days
Milk: 7 days.
shelf life: Two years.

CONTRA-INDICATIONS

-Do not use in animals known to be hypersensitive to tetracycline.

-Kidney and/or liver insufficiency.
-Dosage should not be exceeded in pregnant animals.

-Contraindicated in animals with kidney or liver disease.

-Rapid I.V. injection of tetracyclines has induced transient collapse and cardiac arrhythmias in several species, presumably due to chelation with intravascular calcium ions. If the drug must be given rapidly I.V. (less than 5 minutes ), some clinicians recommend pre-treating the animal with I.V. calcium gluconate.

– Not recommended in horses, dogs, and cats.

-Do not mix with other solution as precipitation may OCCUR.
