List of active ingredients and other ingredients
Each 1 ml Zactran contains:
150 mg of gamithromycin,
1 mg monothioglycerol.
Indications
Zactran is used for the treatment of bovine respiratory disease (BRD) associated with hemolytic anemia, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni.
-Preventive treatment of bovine respiratory disease with hemolytic anemia.
-Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni.
-The presence of the disease must be ascertained in the herd before preventive treatment.
Contraindications
-Do not use Zactran in case of hypersensitivity to macrolide antibiotics or to any excipient.
-Should not be used simultaneously with other macrolide antibiotics or antibiotics based on lincosamides.
–Don’t use it with dairy cows producing milk for human consumption.
-Do not use it with pregnant cows or young cows, which are designated To produce milk for human consumption, within two months of the time of calving Expected.
Adverse reactions
No treatment-related disturbances were observed in clinical trials, except for transient swelling at the injection sites. Significant swellings may arise at the injection sites in 45% of the treated animals, accompanied by mild intermittent pain observed in one day. Swelling usually goes away in 3-14 days, but it may remain in some animals up to 35 days after treatment.

Dosage and route of administration
One injection in the neck under the skin of 6 mg of gamithromycin per kg of body weight equivalent to 1 ml Zactran per 25 kg of body weight).

Special precautions should be taken by the person giving this veterinary product to animals:
Persons with a known hypersensitivity to the class of macrolides should avoid touching this veterinary product as gamithromycin can cause eye and or skin irritation.
Avoid contact with skin or eyes. If the eye is exposed to some of the product upon exposure, rinse it with a large amount of clean water. If any of the product gets on the skin, rinse the exposed area immediately with clean water.
If you accidentally injected yourself with the product, seek medical advice immediately, Show the doctor the product leaflet or label.
Wash your hands after use.
Pregnancy and lactation:
The safety of gamithromycin during pregnancy and lactation in cattle has not been evaluated. Use it only in accordance with a risk-benefit assessment conducted by the responsible veterinarian.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction
Chemistry interactions with other macrolides may occur.
Avoid administering antimicrobials simultaneously with antibiotics of similar action such as other macrolides or lincosamides.
