OXYTET -200 DESCRIPTION
OXYTET -200 is a long-acting, broad-spectrum, bacteriostatic antibiotic containing 200 mg/mL
Oxytetracycline as Oxytetracycline base.
INDICATIONS
Indicated for the treatment and control of conditions caused by or associated with organisms susceptible to its actions.
Many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma spp., Chlamydia, and Rickettsiae are sensitive to 0XYTET -200.
Clinical conditions that may be treated with OXYTET -200 include gastrointestinal tract infections, respiratory infections, urogenital infections, septicemia, and infected wounds.
Cattle: Anaplasmosis, blackleg, diphtheria, actinobacillosis pneumonia, footrot, systemic mastitis joint-ill, navel-III, leptospirosis.
Sheep: Footrot, systemic mastitis, metritis, blackleg, Joint-il, navel-il, pneumonia.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
-Contraindicated for use in horses, dogs, and cats.
-Any variation by the prescribing veterinarian to the approved dose frequency, duration, route, disease, or target species may result in the need to extend the approved withholding period.
-May cause anaphylaxis in cattle.
-Adrenaline may be a suitable antidote.
-Some tissue reactions and discomfort may occur at the injection site.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Use the contents of the vial within 6 months of initial broaching and discard any unused portion.
The standard dose for cattle, and sheep is 1 mL per 10 kg bodyweight by deep intramuscular injection into the neck.
No more than 10 mL should be injected into any one site in cattle and no more than 5 mL into any site in pigs and sheep.
Standard aseptic precautions should be taken prior to injection.
Treated animals should be clearly identified in such a way that will maintain their identity during the withholding period.
This preparation may darken during use but potency will remain unaffected.
WITHHOLDING PERIODS
MEAT: DO NOT USE less than 42 days before slaughter for human consumption.
MILK: Milk collected from cows or ewes within 7 days following treatment MUST NOT BE USED for human consumption or processing. This milk should not be fed to bobby calves.
Storage
Store below 30°C (Room Temperature).
