INDICATIONS
Amox 15% For treating infections induced by numerous Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria susceptible to amoxicillin.
It is suitable for the control of infections caused by susceptible organisms.
It may also be used to control secondary bacterial invasion in conditions where bacteria are not a primary cause of the disease.
Particular indications :
alimentary tract infections causing septicemia
respiratory tract infections, including bronchopneumonia
genitourinary tract infections, including cystitis and metritis
skin and soft tissue infections, including wounds, abscesses, foot infections, joint and navel ill
prevention of postoperative infections by injection before surgery
Before administration of Amox 15%, the sensitivity of the pathogens should be proven.
Not effective against beta-lactamase producing organisms
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in case of
-hypersensitivity to the active substance, other beta-lactam antibiotics, or any of the excipients.
-intravenously.
-in animals with severe renal dysfunction.
-in rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or gerbils or in any other small herbivores
TARGET SPECIES
Cattle, calf, horse, foal, sheep, goat, camel, dog, and cat
DOSAGE
Cattle, calf, horse, foal, sheep, goat: by intramuscular injection once daily -Dog, cat: by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection once daily
To ensure a correct dosage, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing
General dosage: 7-20 mg amoxicillin/kg b.w. equivalent to 1-3 ml per 20 kg b.w
Cattle, horse, camel: 25-35 ml /500 kg b.w
Calf, foal 5.0-7.0 ml /100 kg b.w
Sheep, goat: 2.5-3.5 ml / 50 kg b.w
Dog: 0.5-1.3 ml/ 10 kg b.w
Cat: 0.25-0.65 ml /5 kg b.w
Treatment duration for a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 consecutive days.
A separate injection site should be used for each administration.
If after three days of treatment, no signs of improvement are seen, the amoxicillin treatment shall only be continued if the sensitivity of the causative bacteria has been proven by antibiogram.
If necessary, a change of therapy has to be considered.
If the dose volume exceeds 20 ml, it should be divided and injected into two sites.
As with other injectable preparations normal aseptic precautions should be observed.
Shake the vial before use and use an appropriately graduated, dry syringe to facilitate correct dosing and avoid hydrolysis of amoxicillin
