COMPOSITION:
Cevaxel contains
Ceftiofur (as hydrochloride). ……………………. 50 mg
Excipient qs………………………………………………. 1ml
List of excipients: Anhydrous colloidal silica, sorbitan oleate, propylene glycol dicaprylocaprate.
Cevaxel INDICATIONS
used in cattle inTreatment of infections associated with bacteria sensitive to ceftiofur.
Treatment of:
-bacterial respiratory disease associated with Pasteurella multocida, Mamnheimis hoermolytico and Histophilus somni.
-Acute interdigital necrobacillosis (panaritium, foot rot), associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus (Porphyromonas asaccharolytica)
-Bacterial component of acute post partum (puerperal) metritis with 10 days after calving associated with Escherichia coli Arcanobacteriu pyogenes and Fusobacterium necrophorum
CONTRAINDICATIONS
-Do not administer Cevaxel to an animal previously found to be hypersensitive to ceftiofur and other B-lactam antibiotics.
-or inject intravenously
-Do not use in cases where resistance to other cephalosporins or beta-lactam antibiotics has occurred
– not for use in poultry (including eggs) due to risk of spread of antimicrobial resistance to humans
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
• Suspension for subcutaneous use
• 1 mL/50kg/day for 3-5 days (BRD), 3 days (acute interdigital necrobacillosis), 5 days (acute post-partum metritis)
WITHDRAWAL PERIODS
Meat and offal: 8 days.
Milk: zero hour
STORAGE CONDITIONS
-Store below 30°C.
-Keep the vial in the outer carton in order to protect from light.
-Do not refrigerate or freeze.
-Shelf-life after first opening the vial: 28 days.
