FLUQUINOL-10 100 mg/ml is a flumequine veterinary antibiotic used as one of cattle, sheep, goat and poultry antibiotics has a bactericidal effect against wide range of gram +ve and gram -ve bacteria such as e coli in poultry and other animal bacterial diseases.
COMPOSITION
FLUQUINOL-10 100 mg/ml contains:
Flumequine 100 mg
Benzyl alcohol 10 mg
Excipient q.s.t 1 ml
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
-Flumequine is a bactericidal antibacterial belonging to the Fluoroquinolones group, it acts blocking DNA replication by inhibiting the subunit A of the DNA-gyrase of the bacteria, Flumequine presents a narrow spectrum of activity covering, essentially, Gram-negative bacteria, mainly Escherichia coli, Proteus, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Klebsiella, Vibrio, Aeromonas, and Yersinia.
-It is also active against some species of Gram-positive Staphylococcus pyogen, Corynebacterium, and Streptococcus.
-After oral administration, 10% of the dose is relatively well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, achieving its maximum plasma concentration within 2 hours.
-Flumequine is unchanged, and its hydroxylated metabolite, which has lower activity, is in the blood.
-Flumequine is excreted by urine in 40-60% of the absorbed amount as an unchanged drug and the rest as glucuroconjugated inactive metabolite.
