Composition
Each 1 ml Injectiphos contains:
- Butaphosphan….. 100mg
- Cyanocobalamin IP (Vitamin B.).....0.05 mg
- N-butyl alcohol (as preservative).........3%v/v
- Water for Injection IP………Q.S.
- Overages of Vitamins are added to compensate loss of potency during storage
Injectiphos Description:

Injectiphos Indications:
-Metabolic disorders due to phosphorus and Vit B12 deficiency.
-Metaphylaxis of sterility and periparturient diseases.
-Together with Calcium and magnesium treatment As a tonic in weakness and anemia.
-Support to muscular physiology.
-Stress reduction.
-Improvement of liver functions.
Contraindications:
Do not use Injectiphos in animals known to be hypersensitive to the ingredients,
Dosage and administration:
Injectiphos may be administered by subcutaneous, intramuscular or intraveno s injection as below:
Horse, Cattle :10-25 ml
Foal, Calf :5-12 ml
Sheep, Goat : 2.5-8 ml
Lamb, kids : 1.5-2.5 ml
Dog, cat 0.5-5 ml
Poultry 1 – 3 ml per Liter drinking water
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), If necessary:
Patients developing hyperphosphatemia secondary to intravenous therapy with Injectiphos should have the infusion stopped and be given appropriate parenteral calcium therapy to restore scrum calcium levels.
Adverse reactions :
Overuse of parenteral phosphate can result in hyperphosphatemia, resulting in hypocalcaemia (refer to the Overdose section for more information).
Phosphate therapy can also result in hypotension, renal failure or soft tissue mineralization.
Either hyperkalemia or hypernatremia may also result in susceptible patients.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay:
It can be administered during pregnancy, lactation and lay. No adverse reactions have been reported.
Incompatibilities:
Do not mix Injectiphos with other medicaments
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES:
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Parenteral Vitamin and mineral supplement.
Pharmacodynamic Properties:
Injectiphos contains Butaphosphan and Vitamin B12 Butaphosphan is used as an organic source of phosphorus for animal supplementation.
Phosphorus plays an important role in gluconeogenesis and glycolysis.
It is an important component of nucleic acids, ATP and AMP; thereby it is also implicated in energy metabolism.
Phosphate is also involved in several functions in the body, including calcium metabolism, acid-base buffering.
B-vitamin utilization, bone deposition, and in several enzyme systems.
Cyanocobalamin is a source of Vitamin B12 required for normal functioning of the nervous system, erythropoiesis, DNA synthesis, fatty acids and amino acid metabolism.
Pharmacokinetic particulars:
Both Butaphosphan and Vitamin B12 are rapidly absorbed and well distributed after parenteral administration of Injectiphos. Both are excreted through urine.
