Description:
overxicam Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory.
Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the group of enolic acids.
It inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin E2. Meloxicam has anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, anti-exudative, and analgesic properties.
It inhibits leukocyte infiltration into the inflamed tissue.
To a minor extent, it also inhibits collagen-induced thrombocyte aggregation.
Composition:
Each 100 ml overxicam contains:

Indications:
Cattle: for acute respiratory infection with appropriate antibiotic therapy to reduce clinical signs; use in diarrhea in combination with oral rehydration therapy to reduce clinical signs in calves of over one week of age and young, non-lactating cattle and as supportive therapy in the treatment of acute mastitis, in combination with antibiotics.
Udder edema.
Pedal inflammation.
Horses: overxicam is indicated for the relief of inflammation and pain in both acute and chronic musculo-skeletal disorders.
Animal species
Cattle and horses.
Dosage and administration:
Single injection.
Cattle: 0.5 mg/kg body weight (equivalent to 2.5 ml every 100 kg body weight). Subcutaneous or intravenous injection.
Horses: 0.6 mg/kg bodyweight (equivalent to 3 ml every 100 kg body weight). Intravenous injection
Contraindications
-Do not administer concurrently with steroidal, other nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs, or with anti-coagulant agents.
-Do not use in animals suffering from gastrointestinal disorders such as irritation and hemorrhage, impaired hepatic, cardiac, or renal function, and hemorrhagic disorders or where there is individual hypersensitivity to the product.
-For the treatment of cattle diarrhea, do not use in animals less than one week of age.
-Do not administer in horses less than six weeks.
-Do not use in lactating or pregnant mare.
Precautions:
Avoid use in very severely dehydrated, hypovolaemic, or hypotensive animals that require parenteral rehydration, as there may be a potential risk of increased renal toxicity.
If side effects occur, treatment should be discontinued.
Withdrawal period:
After the last administration, animals should not be slaughtered for 8 days.
Warning:
Do not use overxicam in lactating dairy cattle
For sport horses.
Not to be used in horses intended for human consumption.
Keep out of reach of children and pets.
Storage
Store at temperatures below 30°C in the original container away from direct sunlight.
