OVIPOX composition:
OVIPOX vial of 2 ml (freeze dried) containing 100 doses, each vaccine dose contains:
Active ingredient:
Attenuated sheep pox virus, Romania strain.
Freeze-drying substrate.
The freeze-drying substrate contains: Sucrose, Polypeptone,Polyvinylpyrrolidone.
DILUENT: Available in 50 ml and 100 ml: – Water for injection qsf one dose(0.5 ml if presentation 50 ml or 1 ml if presentation 100 ml).
Indication(s):
OVIPOX is an Active immunization against sheep pox and goat pox.
Target species:
Ovine and caprine.
Contraindications:
None.
Adverse reactions:
Vaccination may induce a local reaction at the injection site in a benign nodular form, which disappears 3 to 5 weeks after vaccination.
Posology and instructions of use:
To reconstitute the OVIPOX vaccine, introduce 4 ml of diluent into the
vial containing the freeze-dried vaccine using a syringe fitted with a needle.
As soon as the solubilization of the vaccine is complete, take all of the liquid and re inject it into the diluent vial, shake slightly to homogenize, then repeat this same operation another time, in order to retrieve the vaccine which remains in the vial or in the syringe used for the transfer.
The vaccine suspension is then ready for use.
Route of administration:
Subcutaneous route.
Immunization program:
Primary vaccination : From the age of two months.
Booster: One annual injection.
If the vaccination OVIPOX is performed before the age of two months a booster must be done at months of age, then every year.
Particular instructions:
Shake vigorously the vial before use.
Only vaccinate healthy animals.
Do not vaccinate sick or stressed animals.
Respect the usual aseptic condition.
Use sterile material and devoid of any trace of antiseptics.
Do not use disinfectants methylated alcohols for sterilizing either needles or syringes.
Disinfect the inoculations and avoid any untimely trauma.
Avoid vaccination during heat waves.
Avoid vaccination in hot weather.
Do not administer this vaccine under the elbow or in the inner thigh.
In case of pregnancy or lactation:
Because of the particular sensitivity to injection, avoid vaccinating pregnant goats.
No special precautions are required for lactating females.
Interactions with other veterinary drugs:
No recommendation can be made regarding the vaccine in association with other pharmaceutical products.
It is preferable to delay other injections.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidote):
After injecting subcutaneous ten doses, no systemic reactions were observed in sheep and goats.
Withdrawal period:
Nil.
Special storage precautions:
Store and transport OVIPOX at refrigerator temperature 2°C to 8°C, in the dark.
Do not freeze.
Any opened vial must be completely used or discarded.
Special warning(s):
Goats: Do not vaccinate the pregnant goat.
Shelf-life: 24 months in its original packaging.

Vial of 100 doses of vaccine with 50 ml of solvent in pharmaceutical grade plastic.
