Statement of the active substances and other ingredients
Oxyasv 20% is a clear brown greenish liquid containing
Active substance
Oxytetracycline (as oxytetracycline HCI) 200mg/ml
Excipients
Povidone K17, EDTA disodium monoethanolamine, heavy magnesium oxide sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, 2-pyrrolidone and water for injection
Indications
Oxysav 20% is indicated against oxytetracycline sensitive microorganisms.
-Cattle & calves: Scours, diphtheria, shipping fever, anaplasmosis, pneumonia & panaritium
-Sheep: Navel ill, enteritis & septicemias
Contraindications
– Oxysav 20% Contraindicated in animals suffering from renal or hepatic damage.
-Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient or excipients.
-Rapid intravenous injection of tetracyclines has induced transient collapse and cardiac arrhythmias in several species, presumably due
to chelation with intravascular calcium ions.
-If the drug must be given rapidly IV (less than 5 minutes), some clinicians recommended pre-treating the animal with intravenous calcium gluconate
-Not recommended in horses, dogs and cats.
-Do not mix with other solutions as precipitation may occur.
-Do not mix with infusions containing calcium salts (chloride/gluconate)
Target species
Calves, cattle & sheep
Dosage, route and method of administration
20 mg /kg of body weight every three days by intramuscular route.
Withdrawal period
-Milk: 10 days
-Meat: 28 days
Special storage precautions
-Store Oxysav 20% below 30°C.
-Protect from light.
-Store in a dry place.
-Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
-The punched vial should be used within 28 days.
