Pneumospectin is a poultry and animal antibiotic used for treating lincomycin and/or spectinomycin sensitive bacterial diseases including:
- Avian cholera and mycoplasma in poultry treatment .
- Cat bladder infection and cat wounds treatment .
- Calves and sheep respiratory diseases.

Composition
Each ml PNEUMOSPECTIN contains:
Active substances:
Lincomycin (as Lincomycin Hydrochloride Monohydrate) …….50 mg (equivalent to 54.47 mg of lincomycin hydrochloride (dried substance)).
Spectinomycin (as Spectinomycin Sulfate Tetrahydrate) ………… 100 mg (equivalent to 129.45 mg of spectinomycin sulphate (dried substance)).
Excipients: Benzyl alcohol …….9mg
Clear and colourless solution for injection.
Pneumospectin Indications
It is used for Treatment of infections caused by organisms sensitive to lincomycin and/or spectinomycin.
Calves:
Treatment of respiratory infections, arthritis and omphalitis.
Ovine and caprine:
It treats respiratory infections and mycoplasmosis.
Chickens and turkeys:
For treatment of mycoplasmosis associated or not to Escherichia coli.
Used for treatment of aerosacculitis caused by Escherichia coli.
Treating avian cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida.
Cats and dogs:
the drug is used to treat respiratory, intestinal, urinary, Skin infections (including wounds and abscess) and arthritis caused by organisms Sensitive to the action of lincomycin and/or spectinomycin, including Staphylococcus Spp., Streptococcus spp., Bacteroides spp., Clostridium spp., Fusobacterium spp., actinomyces spp, Mycoplasma Spp.
Pneumospectin contraindications
-Do not administer it in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances.
-Don’t administer to rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, chinchillas or horses as this could result in Severe gastro-intestinal disturbance.
Pneumospectin Adverse reactions
-Softening of stooIs can be observed. It is normally transient and recovers within few
days without treatment.
-The administration may cause occasional local discomfort upon injection.
Target species
Bovine (Calves), ovine, caprine, chickens, turkeys, Cals and dogs.
Pneumospectin dosage and administration
It is administered by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection.
Calves:
5 mg of lincomycin and 10 mg Specuomycin per Kg p.w. (corresponding to 1ml of PNEUMOSPECTIN /10 kg b.w.
Intramuscularly, twice daily for the first day followed by once daily for 3-5 days.
Ovine and caprine:
5 mg of lincomycin and 10 mg spectnomycin per Kg (Corresponding to 1ml of PNEUMOSPECTIN /10 kg b.w)
intramuscularly, once daily for 3-5 days.
Chickens and turkeys:
10mg of lincomycin and 20 mg spectinomycin per kg b.W Corresponding to 1 ml of PNEUMOSPECTIN/5 kg bw) by subcutaneous route, once daily for 3 days.
Dogs and cats:
10 mg of lincomycin and 20 mg spectinomycin per kg b.w (Corresponding to 1 ml of PNEUMOSPECTIN /5 Kg b.w) intramuscularly.
The treatment may be repeated at 12 to 24 hours intervals for 3 to 7 days according to Clinical response.
Withdrawal period
Calves:
Meat and offal: 14 days.
Ovine and caprine:
Meat and offal: 14 days.
Milk: since the withdrawal period in milk has not been determined, do not use in females producing milk for human consumption,
during lactation or dry period nor in future producers of milk for human consumption within 2 months before calving.
Chickens and turkeys:
Meat and offal: 14 days.
Eggs: since LMR for eggs have not been established, do not use PNEUMOSPECTIN in laying hens producing eggs for human consumption.
Special storage percausions for PNEUMOSPECTIN
Do not store above 30°C.
In-use shelf-life after first opening: 28 days.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
