Cemay is a veterinary antibiotic of ceftiofur for goats , sheep, horses and cattle used to treat pneumonia and mastitis that affect cows, treat asthma that affects horses, and also treat acute interdigital necrosis, which is a disease that affects the legs of sheep.

Composition
Each 1 ml of Cemay contains:
Active substance:
Ceftiofur (as ceftiofur hydrochloride) ..50.0 mg
Excipient(s);
Hydrogenated soya lecithin
Sorbitan monooleate
Cotton seed oil.
Cemay indications
It is used for Infections associated with bacteria sensitive to ceftiofur.
In cattle:
-For the treatment of bacterial respiratory disease associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida, and Histophilus somni.
-It is used to treat acute interdigital necrobacillosis (panaritium. foot rot), associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus (Porphyromonas asaccharolytica).
-And the treatment of the bacterial component of acute postpartum (puerperal) metritis within 10 days after calving associated with Escherichia colli Trueperella pyogenes (Arcanobacterium pyogenes) and Fusobacterium necrophorum sensitive to ceftiofur.
-The indication is restricted to cases where treatment with another antimicrobial has failed.
In sheep and goats:
-To treat ovine and caprine respiratory disease (pneumonia), associated with Mannhelmia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida and for the treatment of interdigital dermatitis (foot scald).
In horses:
It’s indicated for the treatment of respiratory infections, associated with Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
Cemay adverse reactions
-Do not use Cemay in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance, to other beta-lactam antibiotics or to any of the excipients.
-Don’t inject intravenously.
-If resistance to ceftiofur or to other cephalosporins or beta-lactam antibiotics has occurred don’t use it
-It is not to be used in poultry (including eggs) due to the risk of spreading antimicrobial resistance to humans.
-Do not use in horses intended for human consumption.
Contraindications
-Do not use Cemay in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance, to other beta-lactam antibiotics or to any of the excipients.

Target species
Cattle, sheep, goats and horses.
Cemay dosage and method of administration
It is administered by Intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (s.c) administration, Shake well before use.
Cattle:
– Respiratory disease; 1 ml/50 kg b.w/day for 3 to 5 days
– Acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 ml/50 kg b.w/day for 3 consecutive days.
-Acute postpartum metritis within 10 days after calving: 1 ml/50 kg bw /day for 5 consecutive days
In case of acute postpartum metritis, additional supportive therapy might be required in some cases.
Sheep and goats: 1 ml of CEMAY / 50 kg bw.every 24 hours, for 3-5 days, by I.M. injection.
Horses: 2-4 ml of CEMAY /50 kg b.w.every day, for 3 days, only by IM injection.
For cattle, a maximum volume of 6 ml may be administered in each injection site.
Cemay withdrawal period
-Meat and offal: 8 days.
– Milk: zero hours.
