Linpectan is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat bacterial diseases in sheep, dogs, cats, broilers, cattle, calves and lambs such as: avian pasteurellosis , foot rot in sheep , cattle pneumonia and can be used as one of cat pneumonia antibiotics . Composition
Linpectan Solution for Injection contains:
50 mg base equivalent Lincomycin HCl,
100 mg base equivalent Spectinomycin sulphate,
9,450 mg/ml Benzyl alcohol.
Indications
Linpectan solution for injection has a broad spectrum activity against bacteria and it is used against listed below infections caused by microorganisms that are sensitive to Lincomycin and Spectinomycin in cattle, sheep, dog and cat.
Cattle and sheep: pneumonia caused by bacteria and mycoplasma, septicaemia, bacterial enteritis, contagious agalactia, arthritis, foot rot and foot infections treatment.
Cats and dogs: respiratory system infections such as pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis, cystitis, urogenital system infections such as metritis, gastroenteritis treatment, pyogenic and pustular skin infections treatment.
Broilers: CRD, CRD complex, airsacculitis, avian pasteurellosis, staphylococcus infections and infectious coryza treatment.
Contraindications:
Usage of Linpectan in non-target species may cause alimentary tract disorders.
Do not use in rabbits, rats, hamsters and horses. Half-life of the drug may be longer in the animals suffering from liver or renal insufficiency.
Adverse reactions:
It is reported that Lincomycin may cause ketosis in dairy cattle.
In some animals hypersensitivity reactions may occur.
Urticaria, shivering, fever, nausea may occur related to Spectinomycin.
Pseudomembranous enterocolitis type super infections are very common due to Lincomycin.
After repeated dosages changes in kidney and liver functions also reduced blood count and haemoglobins occur.
Diarrhoea and/or faeces excretion may be detected. These symptoms are transient and do not require any action.
Spectinomycin when compared with the other aminoglycosides is less nephro and ototoxic. However, neuromuscular blockage is its most important side effect.
There is a risk of depression on respiration or paralysis as a result of concomitant use of Lincomycin together with anaesthetics creating neuromuscular blockage.
Local reactions on the injection site may be detected in cattle.
Target species:
Sheep, lamb, cattle, calf, dog, cat, broiler.
Dosage for each species, routes and method of administration:
(Unless otherwise is not recommended by veterinarians the recommended dosage of Linpectan )
Sheep-Lamb : 1 ml for 10 kg body weight / day via intramuscular injection for 3 days.
Calf-heifer, cattle : 5 ml for 50 kg body weight / day via intramuscular injection for 3 days, first day two injections recommended.
Cats-Dogs : 0,2 ml for 1 kg body weight /twice per day via intramuscular injection for up to 21 days.
Broller: 0,2 ml for 1 kg body weight/twice per day via subcutaneous injection for 3 days.
Advice on correct administration:
Do not exceed the recommended dosage of Linpectan.
Practise aseptic injection techniques.
Do not inject more than 20 ml to the same injection site in cattle.
Withdrawal period:
Cattle, sheep and broiler:
Meat and offal: 30 days Cattle
Milk: 72 hours (6 milking).
Should not be used in layers producing eggs for human consumption.
Special storage precautions:
Keep out of reach and sight of children
Do not store above 30 °C.
Do not freeze.

50 ml, 100 ml and 250 ml in Type II amber coloured.
