Cubolac is an inactivated clostridium vaccine for sheep and goat as well as cattle. It provides protection against various cattle, goat and sheep clostridial diseases such as Blackleg and malignant edema.

Composition:
Cubolac is an inactivated vaccine containing:
Cl. septicum, Cl. perfringens Types A, C and D, Cl. sordellii, Cl. novyi Type B toxoids, together with whole culture of Cl. chauvoei, formaldehyde inactivated and adsorbed onto Aluminium hydroxide gel (1,4 mg Al/mL).
Thiomersal is added as preservative.
Each dose contains enough antigen to induce a response in the control animal of at least:
0.3 IU CI. perfringens a antitoxin/mL serum,
10 IU CI. perfringens B antitoxin/ mL serum,
5 IU Cl. perfringens ε antitoxin/mL serum,
2.5 IU Cl. septicum a antitoxin/mL serum,
3.5 IU Cl. novyi a antitoxin/mL serum and 100% protection of guinea pig against Cl. sordellii and Cl. chauvoei challenge.
Cubolac Indications:
It is used for prevention of cattle, sheep and goats against blackleg, black disease, braxy, malignant edema and enterotoxemia caused by Cl. chauvoei, Cl. novyi Type B, Cl. septicum, Cl. sordellii and Cl. perfringens types A, C and D.
It provides immunity against Cl. perfringens Type B.
This immunity is derived from the combination of Type C, B and Type D (8) fractions.
Target species:
sheep, goats and cattle.
Cubolac method of administration:
It is given by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.
Cubolac dosage:
– 5 mL for cattle and 2 mL for sheep and goats.
– Shake well before use.
The following vaccination programme is recommended:
Primary course of immunization:
consists of two doses of vaccine with an interval of not less than six weeks between them.
In breeding season, pregnant females should be injected a fortnight before birth occurs. They will then be able to pass on enough antibodies through the colostrum to enable their offspring to be passively protected against enterotoxemia for the first weeks of life, provided the newborn sucks normally within the first hours of life.
Young animals born from unvaccinated mothers can be given their first dose at two weeks of age. Young animals born from immunized mothers should not be given their first dose until they are 10-12 weeks of age.
Revaccination: a single boosting dose at six-monthly intervals.
Side-effects:
Cubolac vaccine contains an adjuvant that may cause a nodule at the site of injection. Occasionally, hypersensitivity reactions may occur. In such cases appropriate antihistaminic treatment should be administered without delay.

Cubolac warnings:
–Cubolac immunizes healthy and parasite-free animals.
-Use the entire contents when first opened.
-And use aseptic precautions.
Pharmaceutical precautions:
– It is Stored at +2-8°C, protected from light.
– Do not freeze.
– Any unused product or waste materials derived from such products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
